History:
Built as a memorial, the Mayher Fountain was constructed in 1902 by
Eleanor Mayher in memory of her late husband John Mayher, a wealthy
banker and industrialist who advocated for construction of a public
fountain as a member of the Village Improvement Society in the
1890's. It has resided at this rotary's green for more than 100
years.
